Ice Cream

Ollie loves Ice Cream! He wishes it would grow on tree's. Unfortunately for him, our fridge doesn't produce ice cream bars on demand.

Last night we mentioned we were going to get ice cream.

"Ice cream bar from store?", he asked.

We meant Dairy Queen, but he knows where ice cream comes from. We loaded everyone up and headed to DQ. When we entered the door, Ollie tried to get in the first chair he saw because he wanted his ice cream now! Unfortunately, the table was too small for our growing brood. I directed him to the table his mom was setting Tori down on. I went to order and a few seconds later, Ollie was by my side waiting for his ice cream.

It eventually came and he was ready to dig in! We don't get him his own because he ends up eating ours and none of his, so we share. He dives into mine, then switches to his mom's and back to mine. He scoops, eats and repeats as fast as his little arm will allow. Near the bottom of the ice cream, he puts the spoon in his mouth sideways and closes his mouth. It busts. He continues to try and eat with it. We get him to use his mom's spoon that she has finished using. He busts it as well.

Now there is only a little bit of ice cream left and it can't go to waste, so we have to get another spoon from the counter. He finishes the ice cream and we head home. He is getting better at feeding himself. He wasn't a big mess as usual and he only flung a little ice cream around. If only he would eat his own, instead of ours, I'm sure that'll come someday.

Trip

This past weekend Ollie made the trip to St. Louis to see his new cousin Tyler. Being the germy toddler that he is, he didn't actually get to see Tyler. His parents did and he looks to be on his way home according to his parents! Yea!

Ollie did get to see his Grandma, Travis and Diane. He also got to see the trains, bouncing balls, fish, gift shop and the St. Louis Arch (all of which seemed to be more important than his family members). He was well behaved for most of the trip, except for lunch. He was definitely tired and crabby by 2 pm lunch. We took an extra long drive back to the hospital and he fell asleep for an hour long nap. After he got rid of some of his crabbiness, we visited a bit more and headed to the Arch on our way out of town.

Ollie liked most of the arch, but he didn't like waiting in the line. I thought he would hate the elevator ride up, but he didn't mind it at all. Once up top, he enjoyed looking down at the trains and boats by the Illinois river. He didn't seem scared of the height at all. Once we were done with the arch, he was ready to go. On the steps to the elevators going down, he changed his mind and wanted to go back up the stairs. Luckily, someone in line started talking to him and surprisingly, he started talking back to him! Once inside the elevator he was fine and enjoyed the trip down.

We headed out of St. Louis and stopped at Sonic at about 8 pm. He barely ate his hot dog and ice cream, but ate the crap out of the cheddar bites. He also got out his last gasp of energy by running around the table several times. He was asleep by the time we got home at 11 pm. Unfortunately, he was stinky. We laid him in his bed anyway and he slept through the night. He got an early morning bath, which he thought was fun. His sheets also got washed since his stink transferred to them.

The rest of the weekend we spent recuperating and running errands. Ollie came out ahead this weekend in the toy department. He got a police car, fire truck and ATV from the hospital. He also got a Mrs. Potato head and 28 more parts to Mr. Potato head from the local stores while running errands. He definitely enjoys them, even though they frustrate him on occasion. Next weekends big trip is to the petting zoo, if it isn't raining like it did this weekend.

A Lot Of Pictures Like This

We are going to have a lot of pictures that look similar to this picture. Ollie likes to have his picture taken and he likes to be in our laps when we have Tori. Last night, I even had Splatter in our lap with these 2. If only I was a little more photogenic.

Not like Mikey

Ollie doesn't just like things he 'mikes' things. As in, "I mike grapes", "I mike moshmawwows", "I mike swimming".

Needless to say, he has problems pronouncing 'L'. So that means his Aunt Lucy is 'Aunt Wucy'. Though, I'm not quite clear on how Lucy is Wucy and Like is Mike. It definitely makes for an interesting conversation. Ollie mike's a lot of things. Practically everything.

"What is that?", he'll ask.

"It is a _____", we'll tell him.

"I mike ______", he'll reply every time.

There are few things he doesn't like, of course these things become yucky. Green grapes are yucky, red grapes he mikes. Guess everyone has their opinion on what they mike no matter the age.

Air Show & Virus

Tori spent the weekend in the hospital. Ollie spent Saturday morning at the air show with his dad. Every time Ollie hears a plane, he looks for it in the sky. It was a natural thought that he would like to go to the air show to see the planes and helicopters up close. The thought was wrong! Every time we approached a vehicle, he would yell NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Needless to say, we didn't go near too many.

There were a few things he liked about the show. The fire trucks, tractors, monster truck, tank and the music. He did actually like watching the planes fly. If I would have let him, he would've watched the helicopters take off and land all day. So, he did like some of the 'air' part of the show. I wonder if he would like a car show better.

When his sister came home on Sunday, Ollie got sick from the same illness. Just another confirmation that what she had was viral. He looked similar to this on Sunday.

On Monday he was feeling better and today, he hasn't had a fever yet. He got to stay home with his mom yesterday and today. Tomorrow he goes back to the sitter's virus free.

New Clothes

Since he is a growing boy, Ollie gets new clothes constantly. Once Tori came into the picture, he decided he needed to try her clothes as well. Not really her clothes, but her accessories.

This started the hair clip and head band craze. As you can see, he isn't to adept at putting on the head bands. He has a little more success with the hair clips, as long as the spring isn't too tight. He even makes us look pretty on occasion. We are so lucky to have a stylist of our own. If only we had a stylist who could use the potty.

In Your Business

Ollie went on a trip to St. Louis yesterday. He went to visit everyone at the hospital and entertain them while they were waiting for Tyler's surgery to be completed.

Ollie was the life of the party, so to speak. He had everyone laughing and was a riot. He ate every minute of it up. He got to watch the trains, balls and other assorted things run around the hospital. He played, colored and had a grand time. He had such a good time that he didn't get a nap until the trip home. This meant he was up late. He went to bed with us so we could keep an eye on him while we tried to sleep. About 2 am he was moved into his own bed. He popped awake around 6:30 am ready for another day. Man I wish I had his energy.

Reading is Fundamental

Ollie has become an avid book lover. He loves books so much he wants to read them multiple times. Actually, he wants us to read them multiple times to him. Let me tell you, Mickey Mouse gets a little annoying after the first couple of readings to adults. Not to Ollie. We found a few more cheap books that he seems to like, but they aren't any more thought provoking than Mickey going to the circus. They just last a little longer. At least he likes being read to, even if it is a bit much for his parents taste.
