Babysitter

Tomorrow Ollie goes to the babysitter for the first time. Boy does this suck! It's been great that his mom has been on maternity leave and she could take care of him. She was there all the time, nothing to worry about. Now he's going to the babysitter's. You could say I'm a bit worried about it all. I can't wait until I pick him up tomorrow afternoon.

Beavis or Butthead

I'm not sure, but I think Ollie has become Beavis. The other night after feeding him, he stared at me for what seemed like hours. Then while I was watching TV. "huh, huh, huh", "huh, huh, huh". I swear it was his first laugh! We haven't been able to get him to repeat it yet. But he his cooing and smiling without the aid of gas.

Swaddle that Squaller-boy!

Last night was fun for me. My first view of the the Squaller-boy! This most dangerous and hideous creature attacked. Nothing would pacify him, changing position...nope, bottle...nope, swing...nope, walking...nope, binky...nope, etc. I guessed and guessed. Finally I tried Swaddling the squaller-boy. Ah, peace and serenity and my sanity restored. I guess I can't get too mad, he rewarded me with 20 minutes of staring at my face and a look of "why didn't you do that an hour ago?". I guess I'll know better next time.

The Good Life

Who's the daddy am I?

It seems that Splatter has become a bit jealous of our little one.

Too bad she's no longer the queen of the castle, now that there is a king around. All 4 cats barely come around him. They sniff him and walk cautiously around him. We keep trying to encourage him to grab them just to see what happens, but no luck yet. Splatter did have an Ollie leg for a snack one day, but no carnage was wrought on him. We think she likes him...or at least the taste of him.

Too big for britches

Ollie the Prize

This little blog is about our son. His name is Christian Oliver Erickson. He was born Tuesday May 13th, 2003. He was 7lbs. 10oz. Now he is a whopping 9lbs. and 21.5 inches in just 4 weeks!

He's already had a few problems. When he was born he had a heart murmur, but that went away in the first 24hrs. Next was Jaundice. A 2 day dose of a billi blanket and that was gone. Now it's Gastric reflux. He's got heartburn. Basically his tummy needs to catch up with him in development. They've got him on Zantac and Myliacon drops. Yummy. They seem to be helping though. He had his best night of sleep at home last night. 3hrs and then 4hrs. after 4oz. bottles. Up from 3.5. He's going to be a big boy since he seems to be keeping all the food down. That's ok, I like chubby babies.

When he got up at 5am for another bottle he stayed awake for about an hour and his mom rasberried his tummy to an approving grin. Too bad it wasn't repeatable. Now if he can just figure out how to keep his thumb in his mouth!
